SKI FILM TOUR COMES TO SANTA CRUZ
Matchstick Productions’ “The Way I See It” To Be Shown at the Rio Theatre
SANTA CRUZ, California (October 6th, 2010) – 500MPH Films of La Selva Beach is bringing Matchstick Productions’ (MSP) ski film “The Way I See It” to the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz, CA on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 7:00pm. “The Way I See It” MSP’s twentieth feature length movie, is a modern take on the extreme sports genre, featuring state-of- the-art high-definition cinematography. With the record snowfalls of the 2010 season and a roster featuring the best skiers in the world, this film leaves audiences inspired and excited for the coming winter season.
The film was shot on location in Alaska, Japan, British Columbia, Colorado, Switzerland, and many other locations worldwide in high-definition and features the most outstanding cast of skiers ever compiled, including Mark Abma, Sean Pettit, Eric Hjorleifson, Henrik Windstedt, Bobby Brown, Colby West, James Heim, Richard Permin, Cody Townsend, Rory Bushfield, Ingrid Backstrom, Gus Kenworthy, Jacob Wester, Russ Henshaw, and others.
The event will feature live entertainment, prize giveaways, and a 500MPH film short, a compilation of travel, adventure and surfing. “To kick off the night, I’ve taken some of our best footage from the past five years and created a fun vignette, something that I believe the Santa Cruz athlete will enjoy and a great segue from the beach to the mountains”, said Robert Ellenwood. Tickets at the door the night of show($15 Adults, $5 Kids under 12).
Two sold out shows kicked off the 2010 Fall Movie Tour for “The Way I See It” at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, Colorado on Saturday night!! The vibe in the theater was all time as fans screamed and yelled throughout the two shows. The All Star lineup of MSP Athletes in attendance included: Mark Abma, Ingrid Backstrom, Henrik Windstedt, Cody Townsend, Bobby Brown, and Gus Kenworthy.
The Athletes signed endless autographs at the welcoming tables in the lobby, and kicked it with the fans before and after the two shows. Mark Abma serenaded the crowds just before the movies started with another one of his phenomenal skills – playing some piano on stage!
“The crowd was so sick tonight, I’ve never experienced anything like that before,” said Gus Kenworthy. Gus went on to say that “everything just came together in Alaska this year, the jump, the sunset, everything was just perfect – I couldn’t have asked for a better trip!”. “As usual, Pettit killed it and Colby was hilarious!”
Long time cinematographer and editor Scott Gaffney said that, “after working with MSP for 12 years now, this movie was probably the biggest challenge because we were able to get so much good footage throughout the winter – we really could’ve made two full movies”. “Ingrid and Arne, that was super special, we captured them doing what they do every day, skiing and being a family.”
Resident MC of the MSP Fall Tour, Frankie Alisuag, brought the crowd into a frenzy. He then handed over microphone duties to MSP’s Steve Winter, Murray Wais, and Scott Gaffney who thanked everyone in attendance for helping MSP stay at the top of Action Sports Production. The Athletes took the stage for some praise and then gave away a ton of great prizes including a pair of Salomon Czars, a pair of Salomon Suspects, two pairs of skis from CoreUPT, jackets and outerwear from Helly Hansen, Smith Goggles and hats, tons of swag from Discrete Headwear, and all sorts of other great prizes!!

Drive far, surf hard, challenge your ingenuity and tenacity in the desert. Then, give everything away…including your car!
In March, 2008, five teams of surfers will pile into four-wheel-drive trucks and negotiate 1600 dusty, bumpy miles to Mexico in the search of solitude, perfect waves, and people in need.
We will load our vehicles with 5000 pounds of clothes, toys, books, bikes, tools and other essentials. As we pass through poor Baja villages, we will donate everything—including the much-needed 4WD trucks—to recognized charities. In all, we hope to make donations worth more than $30,000.
We invite you to watch the action on this web site and blog. We’ll update it frequently with stories, photos and videos. We also invite you to make a donation to the Baja3000 of money, toys, books, supplies, educational materials, and other items. Your donation will go straight to the hands of needy kids and families.
